Keary knee strain overshadows win

-

THE Sydney Roosters are confident Luke Keary’s knee injury won’t derail their run to the finals after he suffered suspected medial damage.

Keary limped from the field in yesterday’s 36-18 win against St George Illawarra, and was taken for immediate scans.

And while it’s believed they showed damage to the left knee, coach Trent Robinson is hopeful it won’t sideline his fiveeighth for an extended period.

“I don’t think it’s anything too bad. But I don’t know how long it will take to turn it around,” Robinson said.

“It’s obviously a concern but I don’t think it’s a long-term concern.”

Keary has emerged as one of the Roosters’ most dangerous players during their run of seven wins in eight games.

His left-edge combination with Boyd Cordner and Latrell Mitchell has flourished.

Sydney Roosters: L Mitchell 3; J Tedesco 2; C Cronk, B Ferguson tries; L Mitchell 4 goals. St George Illawarra: B Hunt 2 T Sims tries G Widdop 3 goals.
