Ferry plan on course

-

POLITICAL will for a Gold Coast ferry system is strong, says Mayor Tom Tate.

The Bulletin revealed that a 12-stop ferry service was being floated and would go before the Gold Coast Waterways Authority next month.

Cr Tate yesterday said that while the idea had previously been put in the “too hard” basket, he believed it would be different this year.

“The technology now means that it is the right time and there would be minimal wake (created by the vessels),” he said. “The Waterways Authority reckons they can help the city deliver it and the political will is really strong at the moment from both tiers of Government so I am confident we will be able to go to market.”
