AMERICANA WITH A FRENCH TWIST FOR BRUNCH

- PEYTON HUTCHINS

NO need to spend thousands on a ticket to the US.

Bam Bam Bakehouse has your hunger for big American food covered with the newest addition to its menu – Cinnabon Cruffins.

Head pastry chef Elsa Delory says the cafe is American/French inspired and gives people a big twist on the classics.

“Here at Bam Bam we take something that’s popular and incorporate an American twist,’’ she said.

“People get really excited when we bring out something because they know it’s going to be different. Our flavours and combinations are very diverse.

“We give our customers something different, but also something nostalgic.”

Take for example the American classic Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll.

Bam Bam starts work on their twist, the cruffin, by baking laminated dough into a muffin mould.

“Inside we have cinnamon butter that we spread throughout the inside of the cruffin and then glaze it with the butter and finish with a cream cheese frosting and sprinkled cinnamon,” Ms Delory said.

The cafe has kept up a constant supply of Americanised food, from Karage Chicken Croissants to Iced Vo-Vo eclairs to 14hour smoked beef brisket.

Pastry chef Karen Pitchinno is the brains behind Bam Bam’s Cinnabon Cruffin. She told the Bulletin the best part about making the cruffin was covering it in a soft cream cheese icing.
