Toovey wins Recharge

AYDEN Toovey has claimed his maiden National Road Series win after taking honours at the 2018 Battle Recharge in northern NSW.

Toovey, riding for Bennelong SwissWellness, opened with a second placing behind Ryan Cavanagh but when the Sunshine Coaster crashed on Sunday, he lost any shot at challenging for overall victory.

Toovey remained consistent, finishing second in the opening road race out of Tyalgum before taking the leader’s jersey from his former junior world championship teammate Cavanagh after finishing ahead of him in Saturday’s road race – a 43km loop around Mt Warning.

Grace Brown won the women’s division just days after returning from the world tour.
