NUGGET SET FOR CLASSIC

-

TWO of the world’s greatest bowlers will go head to head today as the Golden Nugget nears a thrilling conclusion.

Scotland’s Alex Marshall, who has won gold at four successive Commonwealth Games, will face fellow world champion Jeremy Henry at 1.30pm today in a showdown which could be the highlight of the prestigious event.

Both Marshall and Henry, who won medals across the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games, are unbeaten so far in their section.

The Golden Nugget, now in its 32nd year, started at Tweed Heads Bowls Club on Monday and will reach its conclusion tomorrow.

The invitational competition features 12 men and 12 women bowlers, many of whom have claimed world titles or Commonwealth Games medals.

Siti Zalina Ahmad, Jo Edwards and Lynsey Clarke headline the women’s field, with the semi-finals to start tomorrow before the grand finals.
