CRASH SURVIVORS SAY LIGHTNING BOLT HIT PLANE

SURVIVORS of an Aeromexico plane which crashed after takeoff in Mexico have revealed what happened during the terrifying ordeal.

There were 97 passengers and four crew members on board when the plane crashed in Mexico’s northern state of Durango, with 85 people reportedly injured. Miraculously, all aboard survived the accident.

Durango state Governor Jose Rosas Aispuro Torres said Flight 2431 attempted to abort takeoff on the runway due to bad weather but it was too late.

Passengers told media “lightning struck us”.

Speaking in Spanish, a man and a woman described how the plane got hit by lightning mid-flight before plummeting.

The plane landed in a field near where it took off at the General Guadalupe Victoria International Airport.

The Mexican airline wrote in a post on Twitter that it was working to verify information surrounding the disaster and how it happened.

TV images showed the tail of the plane emerging from scrubland and a column of flames and smoke rising into the sky.
