WHO IS STEVEN SMITH

-

EIGHT years ago Steven Edward Smith, 32, was a high-ranking member of a Gold Coast chapter of outlaw motorcycle gang the Black Uhlans.

But he decided to hand that life in to become a family man.

He married Carly Smith and the pair are raising three children in an up-market home in Highland Park.

Smith left his bikie past behind to operate cleaning business CS Cleaning with his wife.

One of the company’s biggest clients was millionaire Paul Picone.

A company search shows the cleaning business, which operated out of a Mudgeeraba address, was wound-up in August 2016.

It is a dispute over this cleaning business which is understood to be the catalyst for the alleged stabbing on Wednesday afternoon.

Smith had four family members and friends supporting him when he appeared in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday.

He acknowledged the group but did not wave.

Smith remained quiet and spoke softly to his lawyer Campbell MacCallum, of Moloney MacCallum Abdelshahied Lawyers, at the end of proceedings.

Smith is a tall man with broad shoulders.

He walked into court yesterday with purposeful steps, but kept his head slightly bowed.

He keeps his blond hair short and his face was clean-shaven.

Tattoos were visible under the white cast on his left arm, but his neck and face were free from any ink.

He has been described as a quiet man who tends to keep to himself and his family.

While with the Black Uhlans, Smith held a high-ranking position but was not a high-profile member known to the public.
