POLICE RAIDS ACROSS SYDNEY OVER EX-BIKIE’S MURDER
NSW police officers have seized vehicles during morning raids across several south Sydney properties yesterday in relation to the daylight execution of former bikie boss Mahmoud “Mick” Hawi.
Strikeforce investigators swooped on six properties, including a Padstow business and a white weatherboard Beverly Hills home, after 7am yesterday looking for evidence.
Detectives seized vehicles for forensic examination, NSW Police said in a statement yesterday.
Several search warrants were executed as part of an investigation into who was behind the murder of the former Comancheros president, who was gunned down outside a Rockdale gym in February.
Confronting footage of the shooting was aired the following month showing the 37-year-old Hawi getting into his 4WD parked outside Fitness First, before a gunman, dressed in black, runs towards the driver’s side of the car.
The gunman – an arm’s length from the car – appears to fire multiple shots at Hawi sitting in the driver’s seat.
The attacker then leans into the car and continues firing at the ex-leader of the Comancheros before running from the carpark.
Hawi died a few hours later in St George Hospital.
