Boardman eager to watch and learn

-

QUEENSLAND Country bolter Dan Boardman can’t wait to watch and learn from high-profile National Rugby Championship teammates Duncan Paia’aua and Izaia Perese.

Even the Bond University centre was a tad surprised at his selection but he is now hoping to capitalise on his opportunity.

“It will be good to feed off their (Paia’aua and Perese’s) energy and knowledge,” Boardman said. “It will be unreal to see how they operate and what makes them tick and hopefully either get a few tips off them or just learn by working with them.”

The 21-year-old Lennox Head junior had impressed Country coach Rod Seib with his consistency all year.

“His workrate in defence is fantastic and all of the hard metres that he got with the ball in hand were really valuable,” Seib said. “The other thing that worked in his favour is that he is such a good bloke … one factor we really try to consider is quality of person and Dan is an outstanding person.

“He’s one of those guys, regardless of whether he is starting on the bench or outside the 23 for that week, you know he will be putting in his very best for the team and he will support all of his teammates.”
