Harry’s late nod for the Country
BOND University vicecaptain Harry Nucifora will join Queensland Country as an “unofficial member” of their National Rugby Championship squad after missing out on their 33-man list.
Nucifora had an excellent Queensland Premier Rugby season but could not crack the defending premiers’ squad due to the presence of Redscontracted scrumhalves James Tuttle and Tate McDermott.
“I have asked Harry to train with Queensland Country,” coach Rod Seib revealed.
“Obviously it is really imperative that you do have a third No.9 there because if you have an injury to one of the other two guys, we need someone there who knows our calls and how we play and what we are trying to achieve.
“It is hard because he has played really well and been one of the standout halfbacks in the competition. He does deserve an opportunity.”
Nucifora will be a contender for the James Slipper Trophy for best and fairest at Friday’s Bullsharks awards.
