-

VETERAN prop Jacob Lillyman will hang up his boots at Newcastle at the end of the NRL season.

The 34-year-old has played 265 NRL games for the Cowboys, Warriors and Knights and 14 State of Origin matches for Queensland.

The long-serving frontrower announced his retirement yesterday after just one season for the Knights, calling time on a 15year

career. “The mind and body reach a point where going another year isn’t an option and it’s been a bit of a battle this year,” Lillyman said.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for this great club but at the end of the year I’m riding off into the sunset.”

Lillyman made his NRL debut for the Cowboys at the age of 19 against the Knights where he will now wrap up his career.

“I’ve had an incredible career. I have no regrets,” he said.
