THINKING THAT HAS MANY BENEFITS

- WITH GLYNIS NUNN (OAM)

Olympic champion and Executive Director of Gold Coast Academy of Sport glynis@goldsport.com.au THE way an individual, team or even an entire organisation thinks has a profound impact on the results it achieves.

To highlight this, all participants at the Gold Coast Academy of Sport women’s forum did a Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) assessment.

Whole Brain Thinking allows people to adapt and use different approaches to achieve outcomes.

It helps to create better results by improving decisionmaking, problem-solving and communication.

The way we think can have an impact on virtually everything we do.

To understand how we think gives us a new perspective of ourselves and all people we deal with.

This assessment identifies the preferred approach to emotional, analytical, structural and strategic thinking.

It also provides individuals who undergo the assessment a significantly increased level of personal understanding.

This in turn helps organisations to:

■ Improve individual and team effectiveness, productivity and communication

■ Increase creativity that will keep them light years ahead of their competition

■ Increase performance and bottom-line results.

Over the weekend, the women listened and discussed different ways of learning, communication and problemsolving, all wonderful skills that help in their leadership and dealing with sporting associations and the duties that need to be undertaken.

Ultimately, these skills will have benefits to the way sport is organised and conducted which will make the engagement and enjoyment of parents, families and athletes better.

To put it simply – it creates a network where women are given tools to reach out for help and become more efficient in their roles.
