Barty grows for US Open

QUEENSLANDER Ashleigh Barty’s preparations for the US Open have continued with a strong showing against Alison Van Uytvanck in the second round of the Canadian Open.

World No.16 Barty prevailed 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 over her Belgian opponent to set up a round of 16 clash with Alize Cornet, who was excited by the Montreal match-up with the 15th-seeded Australian.

“I love this player, I love the way she plays, she has such a big serve.” Cornet told WTA.com about Barty.
