Facebook threats to ‘shoot up’ school end in jail term

-

THE woman who sent a Coomera school into lockdown after twice threatening to “shoot it up” will be released from jail two weeks before Christmas.

Stacey Jaundrell, 36, pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday to two counts of using a carriage service to menace and harass and one count each of fraud and wilfully disturbing an educational facility.

Magistrate Donald MacKenzie sentenced Jaundrell to 20 months prison, with a parole release date of December 13.

“The social media message to the school indicated that someone was coming to kill people with a firearm. It was very serious,” he said.

The court heard Jaundrell created a fake Facebook profile in the name of an Upper Coomera State School student and used that profile to threaten the school on June 10 and 11.

“I am shooting up the (expletive) school tomorrow,” one of the messages read.

Mr MacKenzie said he had taken into consideration a psychiatric report provided to the court that said Jaundrell suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, disassociative identity disorder and borderline personality disorder.
