SLAPPED ON THE WRIST

-

A man accused of masturbating in front of a 13year-old girl while on a meth bender – and who told the child “I know you want this’’ – walked from court last Tuesday after being sentenced to 10 months jail, which was then wholly suspended for 18 months.

A man who grabbed a 15year-old’s crotch as she was swimming, tried to grope her breasts and attempted to kiss her walked from Southport Court in July. Daniel Christopher Evans, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent treatment of a child. He was sentenced to 12 months jail, immediately suspended.

A man who was allegedly found with sexually explicit images of prepubescent children on a laptop he had hidden under his fridge was given bail, because the magistrate feared keeping him locked up would affect his ability to keep his job as a carpenter. The images found on his computer allegedly showed children as young as two. He is required to report to police once a week.

An 81-year-old man who pleaded guilty to having more than 8000 childabuse images walked from court after being sentenced to two years jail, which was immediately suspended for an operational period of five years.

In May, Shaen Samani Alizadeh, 29, walked from court after pleading guilty to one count of using the internet to procure a child under 16 for a sexual act. The judge said “there was a real flavour of actions of a sexually predatory nature in your behaviour”. The court heard Alizadeh groomed the 13-year-old girl in 2015 and offered to buy the child smokes if they met. When they did meet, he asked to kiss the girl and touch her before she ran away. Months prior, Alizadeh had been caught selling cocaine, ecstasy and ice to girls aged 16-18 and having sex with some of them. He served 4½ months for selling drugs to a minor. Alizadeh was sentenced to 15 months prison, suspended immediately.
