HANNAH SINGS FROM THE HEART

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

AUSTRALIAN charity Legacy has been supporting the partners and children of deceased servicemen since 1925.

This month it will host its third annual charity luncheon at the Sheraton Grand Mirage, Main Beach. It has previously raised more than $200,000 to support Gold Coast families.

Joining it this year is Gold Coast artist and The Voice contestant Hannah Pearce, who has a special reason for getting involved.

After Hannah’s father was killed in Afghanistan, Legacy stepped in to pay for school fees, household appliances and even music lessons to help the family.

“They’ve been the best help to my family and I have no idea where I’d be without them,” Hannah said.

“They’ve done so much for us I’d feel bad not doing something for them. It’s only one day and if it helps them with families in the future then I’m willing to stick up a hand.

“They make you feel like you’re family. They’re not just strangers who want to help out. They’re kind and have your best interests at heart.”

Legacy assists more than 1000 war widows and 23 children across the Gold Coast. Its youngest ward is only three.

The luncheon is on Friday, August 24. Go to tryBooking.com/396058 for tickets.
