BULLYING Dream Guards van takes to the streets

Dream Guards has helped thousands of kids across the Gold Coast – now the community is giving back, as they prepare to take their program on the road.

IT might be a convenient way of getting around, but if you spot the Dream Guards van cruising along Gold Coast motorways you can be sure it’s heading out to make a difference.

The anti-bullying organisation revealed their new ride at Varsity College last week and plan to match it with their stage show on mindfulness, emotions and friendship.

Dream Guards provides programs for both primary and high school students, each agespecific and focusing on safety, communication and self-love.

Co-owner and program director Donna-Leigh Perfect started the organisation with her husband Michael Bennett, this year winning the International Women’s Day Social Justice & Equality Ambassador Award.

She said it was the perfect way to share the program’s message with even more schools.

“I think the biggest hope is that we are going to reduce the statistics on bullying, which ultimately reduces the serious effects of bullying, anxiety and depression,” she said.

“We are hoping that by taking this program to more students, to more kids we’re demonstrating how important it is to reach out to each other.”
