GROWING TOWER, FLYING DRAGON

- KATHLEEN SKENE

THE Gold Coast’s highest beachfront building will be tied to the Gold Coast’s highest beachfront festival — with the city’s kite festival to take on the Jewel name next month.

The $100,000-plus sponsorship was announced as the billion-dollar project reached its peak height of 170m and apartment sales were relaunched after a months-long hiatus.

The Jewel’s central tower now stands at its imposing maximum height of 47 storeys, or 170 metres.

Yuhu Group Australia director Jimmy Huang said the topping out ceremony marked a very special moment for everybody involved in the project.

“The Jewel is something we can all be proud of,” he said. “It will bring substantial community benefit to the Gold Coast for many decades to come.” he said.

Construction of the glass-clad towers, which began in February 2016, is slated for completion mid next year.

The Jewel International Kite Festival will be held on September 30 on the beach in front of the development.
