TEXT: 0416 905 148 G.C.U.H. WOW! After major surgery on 8/8, I found myself in bed 18 on ward C2East for my post op recovery. What a fantastic bunch of staff who showed me such care and kindness and could not do enough for me. Such a cheerful lot even whilst working under pressure. Many thanks. Gwyneth

I would like to thank Malcolm Turnbull for being a great PM. He is trying to get this great country back on its feet, and doing a great job. Unlike Shifty Shorten. True Believer

With so much to learn in this world, I’d like to ask why my son in yr 11 has been short changed his schooling by half a day each week, they now finish at lunch on Wednesday. What so they can fit in a 15 hr fortnite session? Emma

I wonder how much our rates could come down if we didn’t build the cultural centre which most people don’t believe the Gold Coast needs and will mainly benefit a small minority of people.

So that’s why the GC has become so boring. It’s run by the LNP and full of LNP voters.

I agree with True Blue and Graham – why don’t we give more of our overseas support money, which goes straight in corrupt Presidents’ pockets, instead we give it to our struggling farmers. We should look after our own first – they are the salt of the earth. From an Aussie

I love seeing all the new mums with bubs in the Bulletin. Much better way to start the day than all the doom and gloom of the headlines and the chatroom. G

Rents for the private sector are getting out of control. My rent has increased by $140 in 14 months to now $500 per week. Wages have not increased anywhere near that unless you’re a politician. This will only lead to more homeless – me included. This is a basic 3bed unit, no swimming pool or any other luxuries. Kris

Good story on the parking issues – it is spot on and also shows how stupid this council is they put parking restrictions all up the coast and then go and sell the biggest car park we have. I can’t understand that. Jamie

Hey John (Chat Room GCB 16/8) if you want the best coffee, served hot, try Robina Bakehouse. Best coffee, great tucker. Fuddy.

I lived in NSW and hated Daylight Saving. Now living in fabulous Qld, I hope we do not get DLS. Yes, I get inconvenienced when I try to

phone NSW businesses after 4.00pm, but that is minor compared to months of DLS.

Hey Freddie. Just checked with my Kiwi mates and they all moved to QLD because we don’t have DLS.

One day on GC I may be able to order coffee without asking for extra hot just to receive normal .... Coffee is meant to be enjoyed slowly...not gulped

in a minute! BJ

What is going on? Brisbane has a public holiday and they all head for the Gold Coast and create chaos on the roads. I can tell you, if there’s a public holiday on the GC I certainly don’t go to Brisbane. GT

Re: daylight savings. We Queenslanders are pathetic. I have travelled around the world for years. Just got back from Brighton in UK. They have daylight savings. Most European countries have daylight savings. And the curtains do not fade, the cows do not stop producing milk and kids go to sleep as usual. Businesses would benefit with more trade in the evening as locals and tourists would stay up longer instead of locking themselves into their homes or holiday units by 6 o’clock. Nothing better than going for a stroll in the evening after dinner. Queensland is the best state to have daylight savings! All year around

If you want to see at least a 10% increase in GC inbound tourist numbers - and if you would like more play time with your kids and grandkids in the evening, tell Tate that the GC should go it alone, re daylight saving this summer. NO BRAINER What an absolute farce, “schools must lead their own fight for a pedestrian crossing” according to State Government. Get the Minister for Education to call the Minister for Roads and request a crossing asap.

What does it take for our state pollies to get off their collective backsides and do the right thing when it comes to our schoolkids’ safety. The govt and the TMR should as a mater of concern make it a priority to put in place a school crossing for both Numinbah Valley and Highland Reserve State Schools and stop this bureaucratic BS.

Good to read in On This Day 15/8/1907 the members of parliament voted themselves a 50% pay rise. Good to see nothing has changed with politicians in 111 years. Jamie.
