FAMILY TIES TO A FIFTIES CLASSIC

IT seems that local entertainment personality Caroline Russo’s leaning towards showbiz and movies is genetic. She has unearthed a photo of some of the cast and crew of the 1950 classic Stromboli starring Ingrid Bergman. Film buffs will know that the Roberto Rossellini directed feature was made infamous for the affair between Bergman and Rossellini which resulted in a daughter, Isabella Rossellini, herself a noted actor. Back to Caroline, the film also stars her grandmother as an extra and grandfather who had a speaking part, both of whom lived on the island of Stromboli at that time. Inspired by the family history Caroline is now setting out to produce a documentary on the history of Stromboli, the island and the movie, and her family connections.
