THE Sunshine Coast Lightning vanquished the Queensland Firebirds in an epic “Sunshine Shootout” to set up a preliminary final clash with Giants Netball.

But the Giants will start favourites for Sunday’s grand final qualifier.

They have been easily the bestbacked side with Ladbrokes at their present price of $1.80, despite their loss at the hands of the West Coast Fever in the major semi-final last weekend. The Giants beat the Geva Mentor-led Lightning at Qudos Bank Arena in the opening round of the season before the two sides played out a 53-all draw in one of the games of the year in Round 8.

The West Coast Fever patiently await the winner of this game in the Suncorp Super Netball grand final next Sunday and the Perth-based outfit are strong $1.65 favourites to win the whole thing.
