BANKER BY DAY, DRAG RACER IN THE NIGHT

- CONNOR O’BRIEN

MUDGEERABA banker Jared Blair will have a change of pace when he strives for new heights at the Brisbane Jamboree next weekend.

The 33-year-old will take his “King Kong’’ Toyota Supra to Willowbank Raceway to compete in the modified 10.5 drag racing category across August 25-26.

“I set out with a goal of running an eight-second pass down the quarter-mile in this car and I achieved that recently,” Blair said.

“Since then I have done some minor upgrades so I can rev the car a little harder and hopefully I will be able to drop those elapsed times slightly.

“I have the horsepower there and the car is set up right, it is just a matter of finetuning it to be consistent and go a little bit quicker.

“The car is a street car, fully registrable and full weight, nothing has been taken out of it – I have just added all of the safety elements.

“I didn’t want to chop up the car or turn it into a drag car, I wanted a car that could be driven on the road if I wanted but also run an impressive time at the track.”

Blair hopes for a personal best, something he called a “really good” feeling.
