Teenager tasered, charged after home rampage

- KIRSTIN PAYNE

A TEEN on an alleged drugfuelled rampage was tasered by police after a terrifying home invasion on the Gold Coast.

The 17-year-old was arrested on Saturday after damaging properties along a street in Upper Coomera, before entering the home of a terrified mother who was putting her daughter to bed.

The mother, who wanted to remain anonymous, said she was left shaken by the ordeal.

“I was upstairs getting my daughter ready for bed, while I was doing this my partner stepped out to go to the servo for 10 minutes,” she said.

Moments later the teen had entered her home.

“He had no idea where he was or what he was doing, he thought he was in his own home and couldn’t absorb the fact no matter how many times I told him that he was in the wrong house,” she said.

The woman said she removed herself and her child from the house while they waited for police to arrive.

“He smashed my brand new TV, broke my pot and plant, broke my ornaments and proceeded to tip my bedroom furniture over before the police arrived and tasered him in my front garden,” she said.

Another neighbour said he found the teen wandering his front yard after allegedly attacking his car.

The 17-year-old was charged with six offences, including possession of dangerous drugs, obstruction of police, wilful damage and burglary.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital that evening to be treated.

He is expected to face court this week under the Youth Justice Act.
