Register for deadly dust

-

MORE than 100 people have joined the first national register of exposure to potentially fatal silica dust.

Slater and Gordon has launched the register to gather data on those who have been exposed through their work cutting artificial stone kitchen and bathroom benchtops. People who work in the construction, demolition and mining industries are at risk of the serious respiratory condition silicosis. Lawyer Claire Setches said as silica dust was very fine, many people may not know they have been exposed.
