Overboard but survived

AN English woman says she feels very lucky to be alive after falling off the back of a cruise ship and spending 10 hours in the Adriatic Sea at night before being rescued by the Croatian coast guard.

The 46-year-old woman, who identified herself only as Kay, said she was sitting at the back of the deck of a Norwegian Star cruise ship when she fell overboard about 95km off Croatia’s coast just before midnight on Saturday. After 10 hours the exhausted woman was found swimming not far from where she is believed to have fallen and was taken to hospital.
