WHAT THEY SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT

-

EDUCATION

ONLINE bullying and better protection for teachers have become major issues in Gold Coast schools this year.

DROUGHT

OUR farmers are doing it tough as the drought wreaks havoc on our farms. The nation still has no drought policy as decisions fail to be made.

POWER PRICES

THE Coalition’s attempts to deal with energy and power prices sparked the internal party divisions that ignited this leadership challenge. As they argue it out in Canberra, power prices continue to increase.

JOBS

THE Gold Coast is trying to diversify its economy and

increase the number of available jobs now the 2018 Commonwealth Games have passed. Greater federal funding to bolster a number of emerging industries is critical.

CONGESTION

THE Gold Coast’s population is rapidly growing towards one million people. We need Federal Government support

for future congestion-busting projects such as the light rail’s third stage and extensions of the heavy rail south.

NEGATIVE GEARING

LABOR is proposing a major change in negative gearing policy if the Opposition wins at the next election. We need to know how this will impact the Coast’s investor-heavy market.
