Missing girl found, mum arrested

-

A LITTLE girl missing for 18 months in an alleged case of parental abduction has been found.

Five-year-old Alia “Bugsy” Goble was believed to be living in secret on the Gold Coast with her mother Tarryn Leigh Corlet. She was last seen by her father Andrew Goble at the child’s fourth birthday party in northern New South Wales in April last year.

After a long investigation, police found the pair in Bunbury, WA, on Wednesday. Ms Corlet, aged 44, was arrested by police.

In a statement via his lawyer Clare Quinn yesterday, Mr Goble said he was relieved to have his little girl back.

“Andrew Goble would like to thank the Australian Federal Police and private investigators, the International Intelligence Agency, for all their hard work over the past 14 months in trying to locate his daughter, Alia Goble,” a statement read.

“Alia was located safe and well by the Australian Federal Police on 22 August 2018 in Bunbury, Western Australia. She has now been reunited with Andrew.”

In their own statement, the AFP said: “Anyone ... found to be providing support to an abducting parent may themselves be committing a serious offence.”
