FOOTY FAMILY FIRES UP FOR FOUNDATION

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

MUM’S the word when it comes to raising money for a cause, as Titans star Ryan James knows.

James’ mother, Terrilee, has been working with local junior league club the Bilambil Jets for 30 years.

Even though her son isn’t there anymore, she and friend Noeleen Lowcock continue to help out where they can, recently holding a fundraiser for the Starlight Foundation.

With a little help from superstar son Ryan, who is an ambassador for the children’s charity, they raised $3000 for children in need.

James said he had donated what was needed to get it up to $3000 after the team raised $2600.

“It’s great to give back,” he said. “We’re in a lucky enough position to make someone’s day better, so we’ll take advantage of that while we can. It’s just great to make someone happy.”

He said now that he had children of his own, he understood how important the foundation was for helping children.

Starlight Foundation CEO Louise Baxter said James was contributing “enormously” as an ambassador.

“Ryan is an inspiring Starlight Ambassador and all the kids see Ryan as a positive role model,” she said. The money raised will go to Starlight’s national services, including the Captain Starlight and the Wish Granting programs.
