Veteran to be farwelled
THE family of Gold Coast veteran Lionel Percy Vivian Veale OAM, who died on August 19, nine days short of his 100th birthday, will hold a funeral service in his honour at an Ashmore church on Monday.
He will be farewelled at a service for family and friends at Mary Immaculate Church, in Edmund Rice Dr, Ashmore, on Monday at 11am, a family spokesman confirmed.
It had previously been incorrectly stated it would be held in Parkwood.
Mr Veale served as a Coastwatcher behind enemy lines in World War II and was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his service to the community.
