McGrath’s world title No.8
NOT even a reclassification to join athletes with greater mobility could stop Curtis McGrath’s relentless march to an eighth world title.
McGrath, who won his seventh championship with gold in the KL2 kayak division of the Paracanoe world titles in Portugal on the weekend, snared an eighth gong with gold in the va’a canoe yesterday.
The craft will be added to the Paralympics in 2020 after the sport made its debut in Rio in the kayaks. Gold Coaster McGrath had won four world titles in the VL2 class but was recently reclassified to VL3.
Fellow Gold Coaster Susan Seipel was fourth in the VL2 division after her sixth in the kayak earlier in the weekend.
