Pallister scoops pool

SUNSHINE Coast teen Lani Pallister has announced her arrival as a genuine Olympic hope with her fourth individual medal at the Junior Pan Pacs in Fiji.

Pallister set a meet record to win the 1500m freestyle in 16min 8.09sec, beating American Leah Smith’s mark by almost four seconds.

The 15-year-old, daughter of Olympian Janelle Elford, won the 400m, 800m and 1500m in Fiji and finished more than 16 seconds ahead of nearest rival, Mariah Denigan, in yesterday’s 1500m final.
