ALLI’S AT HOME ON GOLDY

- ASTRID TAEMETS

ALLI Simpson is using her fame to shed light on a confronting issue – homelessness.

Off the back of her experience on SBS’s Filthy, Rich and Homeless, the model and media personality says she is determined to keep bringing attention to the growing social issue.

“Just because you don’t see me post about it on Instagram, doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything,” she said.

But despite her best efforts, Simpson said she was copping flak online.

“I get a lot of comments on my Instagram from people accusing me of just using it to build my profile,” she said.

Comments such as “what have you done to help the homeless lately?” and “were you just promoting yourself?” are some of the questions Simpson said she was asked on a daily basis.

“I knew comments like that would roll in,” she said. “It was something that I was prepared for, but not worried about. I know what I’m going to do to help the issue, and that’s all that matters.

“Coming out of the show, I’m not dropping it. The experience will stay with me forever, so I just have to push those comments aside.”

Yesterday, the Gold Coast star returned to her roots to visit homeless refuge Bill Hoyer House in Labrador.

“I’m out here, and I’m going to start making some noise about the issue,” she said. “I know I’m doing the right thing.”

Earlier this month, Simpson announced she would be spending the rest of the year living in Australia rather than LA.
