Business cyber threat
CYBER attacks are increasingly targeting small and medium-sized businesses which are often oblivious to risks and do little to stop it, a Deakin University cybersecurity expert has warned.
Professor Matthew Warren said IT systems were integral to all businesses, leaving them vulnerable to attack. “The problem is they may not have the appropriate resources, expertise or understanding to protect their systems and key data,’’ Professor Warren, Deakin’s Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation deputy director, said.
Common IT applications uses such as booking services, online sales, social media promotion, websites and customer databases were all vulnerable.
