COOKING WITH YOUR OWN VEG? GROW FOR IT!

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

THE best thing about growing your own veggies is the chance to make something delicious when you’re done and today’s My Little Seed Garden radishes are perfect for that.

Owner of Kids Cooking Academy Richard Neale said the distinct flavour of radishes makes them something you need to get creative with.

“Salads are obviously the most common use for radishes, there’s a really nice one that’s radish, carrots and pickled onions – so you’ve got that nice textural thing with the crunch of everything – a bit of soft avocado,” he said.

According to Mr Neale many schools have jumped on board to have kids take ownership of their own vegetable gardens.

“Cooking is the next step for that – when you’re able to apply what you’re doing out in the garden, take something such as radishes that you’ve grown and turn them into something delicious,” he said.
