GCB 28/8 reporting that number of Queensland high school kids failing to meet the most basic writing standard has doubled since the start of the decade. Another disaster at the hands of the present Palaszczuk Labor Government with its hopeless education system. Queensland is releasing thousands of illiterate school leavers into our society who will never get a job. Anna, retired teacher.

Mr Ciobo says “let’s move on”. No Mr Ciobo, you move on and take Mr Robert with you. Disgraceful and un-Australian. Shame Shame Shame. The Wiz

No wonder small business are not making money. They are pricing themselves out of the market. Quote to travel from north of Brisbane to GC to repair appliance was $589.00 which was all travel allowance and one hour labour. Any parts and more than 1 hour to repair are extra. No thank you. Joan

Great letter in Bulletin on 28th August Jim Wilson. Hit the nail on the head! Unfortunately though, I think rugby has already lost to the other codes now being the 4th choice ball sport in Australia behind AFL, rugby league and that silly round ball game. The All Blacks are going to need to find someone else to beat, Wallabies have been culled. Jonesy

Can someone tell this appalling bunch of scum in Canberra who call themselves the Government that the very first thing they need to do is apologise to the Australian voters for their self-serving games they played last week. I for one will never vote for either of the major parties ever again. Mr MF

Don’t blame the Suns for a poor season. Blame the ones who ran the Commonwealth Games and got those massive bonuses for destroying the Gold Coast. Who’s talking about the Comm Games now? Nobody.

Re ‘climate change monster’. Just heard “common sense is a flower that doesn’t grow in everyone’s garden”! Ma

Wanna see some reality TV. Get some drones up to the Far North. Let’s see these illegal aliens survive the croc-infested Daintree. Last man standing wins citizenship. And a job as lifeguard at Uluru. Dave

To the person who mentioned all the sports the Kiwis were hopeless at. At the end of the day all teams and individuals no matter what country they come from, train to be the best they can, and want to win. Your comments are unsporting. Oh, I notice u

missed one sport out, CRICKET. Oh and the word cheats. And that’s a fact. JRC...Aussie and Kiwi fan (and every other country in the world)

Our energy generators and retailers are reporting massive profits, some in the order of 100-150 per cent over previous years. And the source of these profits are the renewable energy subsidies on offer by the Federal Government, billions in fact. So if our subsidies, read

into that taxpayers dollars, are the source of these massive profits, then surely we can cut back on the size of the subsidies so that they earn a profit and not a bonanza. GT

Blimey, everyone knows that climate change is real. Just watch the weather forecasts each day. They change all the time. Duhhh!

To the toxic hatemonger Monday GCB pouring scorn on anything with a connection to NSW. In your feeble mind Qld is perfect eh? OH YES. Just look at your Labor Government. But it does permit people such as yourself to have hatefilled racist comments against God’s own favoured people from NSW. We tolerate boofheads as they know no better. DJBM.

I feel quite sad to see Julie Bishop go, thought she was a great ambassador for Australia in her position. Well spoken and you knew what she was talking about. Paddy

Can you believe it, Bill Shorten and his Deputy Tanya Plibersek say they are disgusted with the backstabbing of Malcolm Turnbull. Have they forgotten the backstabbing between Rudd and Gillard. I would suggest Shorten watch his back as well. Ken Australia, because behind the scenes the boys look after the boys, has lost out on what could have been a wonderful career as PM for Julie Bishop. Doug

Knowing some houseboats on our lovely Broadwater are tipping their raw waste daily into our Broadwater horrifies me and I think they should be reprimanded. Their houseboat toilet doesn't work so into the crystal clear broadwater it goes every day. Disgusting. We swim there, and our children too. We don’t want to swim with raw effluent! Do something water police!

Does anyone else think that all Lotto payments should be capped at say $10,000,000? The rest of the money could be shared among the other prize winners and maybe $1,000,000 of each lotto draw be donated to charity.
