1966: The Beatles play their last live concert to a crowd of 25,000 at Candlestic­k Park, San Francisco.

2005: Hurricane Katrina rams into the US Gulf Coast with 225km/h winds and a nine-metre storm surge, devastatin­g the city of New Orleans.
