BOOTED TEACHER BLASTS ‘NASTY’ BACHELOR GIRLS

- SALLY COATES

REALITY stars love to blame the editing when they come across poorly, but this contestant says this year, the villains are every bit as bad as they appear.

Gold Coast teacher Blair Thomas was booted from The Bachelor last night, but she did so in memorable style by sticking up for a fellow contestant who was being bullied by “mean girl” Romy.

She said there was no editing required to make Romy and her sidekick Cat seem malicious – that’s how they really are.

“This is definitely not a case of editing,” said the 27-year-old.

“They are nasty girls but they’re so nice to people’s faces and then they’ll give each other snide looks.

“When people are talking they’ll throw the looks at each other.

“And they always manage to turn everything on the other person, like I feel like she (Romy) was just trying to shift the blame on to me when we had our words.”

The terms “reality show contestant” and “role model” are not usually used in conjunction, and Ms Thomas was wary of how going on a reality TV show would affect her career.

But in a positive twist, she said her students have actually found her behaviour on the show inspirational.

“I’ve been told about 300 times ‘oh my God, I’ve seen you on The Bachelor’, but they’re all being really nice,” she said.

“They’re seeing me as a role model in a positive way.”
