I’D
like to commend Kerry Clare’s and Philip Follent’s excellent letters regarding development, in Tuesday’s GCB.
Sustainable development is key. Workable, liveable cities are at the heart of all who live in them. Broadbeach is an example of over zealous development, with towers casting long shadows and blocking ocean views. In winter it is a cold, shadowy and windy suburb.
We must not let this happen again. Soon a big chunk of the parkland at Evandale fronting Bundall Rd is about to be covered with bitumen for parking. Why can’t the new art gallery house a lower-ground floor for parking, or why not add a level to the existing car park footprint on the northern side of the arts centre?
Come on GCCC, show a little creativity and thought in your planning.
