Energising a fat fight

-

WITH childhood obesity rates skyrocketing and British youngsters bigger consumers of sugar-loaded, high-caffeine energy drinks than other children in Europe, Prime Minister Theresa May has thrown her weight behind a ban on sales of the drinks to junior consumers.

“With thousands of young people regularly consuming energy drinks, often because they are sold at cheaper prices than soft drinks, we will consult on banning the sale (to) children,” Ms May said. It follows concern from public figures such as chef Jamie Oliver.
