Teen earns shot in Arnie’s first team
UNCAPPED teen Denis Genreau has bolted into Graham Arnold’s first Socceroos squad while Mitch Langerak, Alex Gersbach and Bailey Wright are among a string of recalls.
But the injured Mathew Leckie, Tom Rogic, and Andrew Nabbout are notable absentees from the 31-man squad selected for next week’s training camp in Turkey.
Aside from the trio and retired Tim Cahill, all of Bert van Marwijk’s 23-man World Cup group was named yesterday except James Meredith, the 30-year-old left-back making way for 21-year-old Gersbach.
And despite uncertainties over their international futures, both Mark Milligan and skipper Mile Jedinak have been included.
Dutch-based duo, teenage striker John Iredale and 19year-old Melbourne City midfielder Genreau, at PEC Zwolle, will be given a chance to impress Arnold.
