Deng after world gig
QUEENSLAND’S national 800m champion Joseph Deng is aiming to compete at next year’s Queensland Track Classic to shore up his world championships selection.
The Brisbane stop on the Athletics Australia circuit is on March 23, seven days out from the start of the national championships in Sydney.
“With our coach Justin (Rinaldi), I have started discussing our plans to run distances from 400m to 1500m next year,’’ said Deng, who last month erased a 50-year-old national 800m record.
“I will run Perth and Brisbane ahead of the nationals. Pete (Bol, his training partner) and I are both determined to win our first national title.”
