WINNERS
■ Bill The Conqueror (Race 4) Nothing went right for Bill The Conqueror and he was still able to record a dominant win. The fact that he bled and was found with the thumps after the race only added to the win.
■ Tedder Avenue (Race 5) Tedder Avenue was a rare positive for punters at the Gold Coast on Saturday. She received a number of bumps from Brenda heading into the straight and there would have been genuine excuses if she hadn’t won, but she showed plenty of toughness to fight off her rival to return to winning form.
■ Didn’t Mention It (Race 8) Didn’t Mention It was trapped in an awkward position early but Michael Hellyer was able to angle her out at the top of the straight and she responded well. She is a better mare than her current record suggests. LOSERS
■ Club Soda (Race 2)
Club Soda didn’t get going until the race was all but over. He has now been beaten as favourite in three of his five race starts.
■ Doom (Race 8)
A disappointing performance from the favourite. Scott Galloway had him under heavy riding a long way from the finish and he never looked like a winner.
NEXT TIME
■ Catch Me Later (Race 7) This was not the best ride from Luke Rolls and the performance of Catch Me Later was better than it looked on paper. His closing sectionals were easily the best in the race.
■ Sequalo’s Spirit (Race 7) Sequalo’s Spirit was caught wide throughout and did plenty of work in the run, but still kept finding in the concluding stages to only miss by half a length.
