Juniors eye state titles

QUEENSLAND’S best are preparing for this weekend’s final event of the Queensland Junior Surfing Titles series.

Last year’s under-18 boys champion Alister Reginato (Alexandra Headland) is defending his title this year, and currently sits first in the ratings after a win at event one.

Reginato and Jagger Bartholomew (Coolangatta) fought a tight battle in 2017, with Reginato taking the lead and the title in the final.

Bartholomew sits in third place in the ratings, with Thomas Carvalho (Coolangatta) in second and Taj Stokes (Buddina) in fourth.

Queensland Championship Circuit open women’s champion Sasha Baker (Mudjimba) took first place in the under-18 girls division at event one on the Sunshine Coast.

Closely following Baker in the ratings are Shaye Leeuwendal (Currumbin), Holly Williams (Buddina) and Sammy Lee (Buddina).

Raya Campbell (Coolangatta) leads the ratings in the under-16 girls division.
