- KIRSTIN PAYNE kirstin.payne@news.com.au

COOMERA’S $470 million shopping centre will open its doors in just 30 days.

The new Westfield shopping centre, which boasts cinemas, a huge outdoor leisure space and more than 140 retailers, will open for the first time to the public on October 11.

The centre, which stretches to 59,000sq m, has been likened in size to Westfield Helensvale, with the option to extend.

Centre manager Lauren Frew said, while work was still under way, the 30-day deadline would be met.

The design includes plenty of natural lighting and an emphasis on outdoor space.

Food and leisure retailers make up 30 per cent of the tenancy.

In a first-of-its-kind concept, Westfield Coomera will also introduce The Backyard, a 2600sq m area filled with kids’ play zones, scooter circuits, an interactive billabong, hammocks and barbecues.

iPlay Adventure will offer activities like a high-ropes course and rollerskating.

And The Park Coomera will host a “putt-putt meets beer garden”-style venue.

“We are also really excited to announce international favourite H&M will open its doors in Westfield Coomera this year,” said Ms Frew.

While not all sites will be open by the ribbon cutting on October 11, Ms Frew said the centre would be at capacity by Christmas.

A total of 7500 jobs have been created through the construction of the centre.
