Pete sees a fresh start

RECALLED Test bowler Peter Siddle believes fresh faces could bring a new energy to Australian cricket.

The inclusion of Siddle, who played the most recent of his 62 Tests in 2016, and the five new names were the result of suspensions, injuries and also a heavy axe swung through the most recent squad.

Peter Handscomb and Joe Burns, as well as bowler Chadd Sayers were omitted from the team that played South Africa in March, while Glenn Maxwell, 12th man in that match, was also overlooked.

“I do feel for him. I know that he’ll be shattered but one thing he’ll do is go out and work hard and push his claims for the summer,” Siddle said of Maxwell.
