Offshore rescue skills put to test

QUEENSLAND Water Police and Volunteer Marine Rescue have held an offshore training exercise to test search and rescue skills.

On September 8, VMR volunteers from Southport, Currumbin and Jacobs Well, as well as members from Point Danger Marine Rescue NSW and Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Southport, took part in the offshore program. Forty-five people were involved, testing the latest technology able to track vessels and monitor search patterns in real-time.
