I HAVE

-

to agree with Ray Snook and CPE Smith who wrote regarding the extension of the light rail from Broadbeach to Burleigh.

The Gold Coast Highway is adequately serviced by public transport and works well.

The extension of heavy rail

should be the first priority as this would be of more benefit to locals and tourists alike.

The light rail will only cause more congestion with traffic and loss of parking.

There will be no parking on either of the light rail and side streets will probably have a three-hour parking restriction.

So if you have a business or home along the route, you will be inconvenienced during construction and unless you have adequate off-street parking, there will be nowhere for customers to stop.

It will probably lower home values as well.

The lower road at Burleigh will be one single road heading north only (no parking), so good luck to the coffee shops, businesses and homes along that road.

We need to put local transport in place that will benefit our residents first.

The folks in the western suburbs are badly done by when it comes to public transport. EDWINA STEPHENSON, MERMAID BEACH
