CRITTERS SOLDIER ON

-

IF you hit the Broadwater at the right time in the morning or evening, you’re likely to come across these funny little guys.

And not just one or two. Soldier crabs line up in the hundreds to thousands every day, clicking away as they follow the tide.

They leave their small balls of rolled up sand behind them and if you venture too close, they move away like a tiny wave, ready to dig their way into the sand if it’s too threatening.

Many little kids just love chasing them while keen fishos sometimes collect a few as they make a great bait for bream and whiting.
