TRY THE QUIETER OPTIONS

-

WHEN you think of heading to the beach, you are spoiled for options the length of the Gold Coast strip.

But if you’re not heading out there to surf or chill in the rolling waves, some of our northern Broadwater spots might be more suited.

I’m talking about Runaway Bay, Biggera Waters, Labrador and Paradise Point.

Here, it’s a little bit quieter, the water is not as rough – it’s perfect for those concerned about getting dunked.

If you’re looking for a place to swim and have a bite to eat, Paradise Point is a good place to start. Cute cafes line the Esplanade, there’s plenty of green grass for a picnic on and there’s also an enclosed swimming area.

If views, sunbaking and walking along the Broadwater is more your thing, then Labrador to Biggera Waters has an amazing pathway winding its way along the water.

Beginning at Len Fox Park in Labrador, the pathway follows the coastline all the way down to Lands End Bridge at Biggera Waters. It’s a great track to take the dogs on and you can walk on the sand too.

Finally, Runaway Bay is where you’ll find your private beach haven.

The little estates in between the canals means there are only short stretches of sand and sea and typically just one road in and out of the area.

You won’t find crowds of people here, so pitch your sun umbrella.

Then settle down to soak up the rays and views in a serenity sometimes difficult to find in the busy Gold Coast.

Oh, and your dog’s welcome on leash too.
