Time to ignore the politics and make Spit a highlight

- KEN WADE, TWEED HEADS

THE stagnant Palaszczuk Labor Government keeps rejecting nearly every proposal put before them including a cruise ship terminal, a sky rail and a casino.

I have no objections to a casino even though I don’t visit them myself, simply because I am not a gambler, but if people enjoy a bit of a flutter at a casino, then that is their prerogative, and I say good luck to them.

However, The Spit urgently needs a facelift from its present ugly state of its dead trees on the eastern side and its health hazard sewage pit caused by illegal campers.

This prime piece of land needs to be changed into huge grassed parklands, barbecues, shelters and picnic areas for families – how the hell could any sane person object to that?

But all these vital projects that would create hundreds of jobs for the unemployed, are rejected by weak Labor time after time, simply because they are too afraid it might offend their bedmates the Greenies, who have such power over this current Labor Government.

These Labor politicians need to be reminded that The Spit is owned by the public not them, and the decision to upgrade The Spit should be based on the public majority, not the Greens minority.

A vote for Labor at the next election is a vote for denying local families the chance of securing a decent permanent job, with all these vital projects that Annastacia keeps rejecting.
